Welcome!

Please forgive me first off for what may be a rambling post.  The brain is still fuzzy from a wonderful mission trip to El Salvador.  It was a very blessed time!!  It was my intention to post before I left but that just wasn't going to happen given my proclivity to run around like a headless chicken up to the minute of leaving the house.

shares that there will be some Planned Parenthood closings in Arizona due to a recent ruling that requires that abortions only be done by doctors (and not nurses or midwives).   I ALWAYS jump for joy when there's news of an abortion facility shutting down or an abortionist quitting the industry.  Of course, Planned Parenthood is NOT happy about the different restrictions (including a parental consent form).   Anything that restricts abortions (money to be made) upsets them despite their claim they want to "reduce the number of abortions".   Not very convincing, is it?

A comment was made by a pro-abortion proponent that maybe ALL the abortionists will quit and women will be subjected to self-induced abortions with coathangers.  The Coathanger Faction is alive and well on every message board (and there is a pattern with these posters...age group, political party affiliation, past activism and they are usually participants in extracurricular incendiary activities involving brassieres).  There are several problems with this argument though.   To start, by Planned Parenthood's own admission, 90% abortions done before 1973 were performed by doctors.  Maybe Dr. Moreau's island used coathangers (Quick, Hollywood trivial pursuiters!!!...any movies with coathanger abortions)????

In Planned Parenthood's world, ANY person should be allowed to do an abortion whether it be your street corner paperboy, UPS deliveryman, janitorial worker, receptionist, or high school student.  To oppose this is to be woman-hater of the highest degree.   So it's not about restricting nurses/midwives from doing abortions.  No one should be prohibited from this money-making business if they really want to do it.

Another problem with the pro-aborts' fear frenzy is that they seem to think that abortionists "doctors" never botch abortions.  There is a belief in their fantasy world that 1973 had thousands and thousands of dead women from abortion because it was "illegal".   By the stroke of a pen on January 22, 1973, abortion automatically became the "safest" procedure ever to exist (in the demented abortion world).  Somehow, the very dangerous abortion procedure  performed on January 21, 1973 (because everyone used a coathanger, doncha' know) suddenly became a procedure that was no worse than "pulling a tooth" (a repeated claim by abortion workers).   Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who co-founded NARAL admits to inflating abortion death numbers.

One more side note on this:   We will  never have an accurate number on deaths from abortion.  Abortion deaths are covered up for a myriad of reasons.  Usually, the death certificate states that death was caused by sepsis, perforation of an organ and/or hemorrhage.  Sometimes there is an allergic reaction, respiratory distress or drug overdose but it won't be attributed to abortion.  However, even before 1973, the numbers of reported known abortion deaths had declined in the 1960's.  I will post these statistics in a later post.

In the fantasy world of pro-aborts (some are in the fantasy world; others are just plain evil and lying), doctors never make mistakes unless they are against abortion.  What opened my eyes early on was a book called Lime 5 by Mark Crutcher.  It is a disturbing collection of reports that documents cases of sexual abuse, maimings, deaths and the callous treatment of babies and their mothers during abortions.  I wish Lime 5 was required reading for every high school student.  Mark Crutcher is the head of Life Dynamics in Texas.  The Life Dynamics website features the Blackmun Wall which is a virtual memorial for all the women who have died from abortion.   At the virtual wall, each woman's name is highlighted and clicked on to reveal the details of her death.  It is chilling just like the book Lime 5.

There is a website called Real Choice.   It's also a very informative website in detailing accounts of women's deaths by abortion but it also goes into great detail about the "doctors" who performed them.  The website shares whether the doctor received any legal recourse (most don't) and/or whether they were licensed at the time of the botched abortions.  http://realchoice.blogspot.com/

There are two other websites that follow modern-day "doctors" who kill babies and moms.  Jill Stanek, as I have mentioned in a previous post, does a superb job of gleaning all the accounts of botched abortions and the abortionists who perform them.  So does Operation Rescue.   Both websites have search engines to look up abortionists' names and locations of their facilities.  They are also good at sharing the present licensing (or lack thereof) status of these abortionist "doctors".   When you read all these books/websites/cases of botched abortions, you will see why I put quotes around the term "doctors".  Doctors heal....abortionists murder.   One thing you will notice in the Real Choice reports is that many of the posts start out "________died of a safe and legal abortion........"

Licensing seems to be of little consequence.  A little kid can't sell lemonade on the sidewalk anymore due to all the red tape of permits and regulations (and who knows...maybe that little girl is stepping on some union toes too), but an abortionist can perform an abortion without any real legal paperwork or licensing.  He can even botch one with no real backlash. Steven Chase Brigham is one particular abortionist who at this very time, even under investigation, is still committing abortions even though he has been forbidden to do so.   He has given up 5 licenses to date in many different states.   So the modus operandi for many abortionists is to set up shop (or many shops) botch abortions and/or kill, get bad publicity of some sort and then move and set up a new shop in a new state.   License?  Oh, what folly!

There's a new venture on the horizon though.  There is a plan to let women know about specific abortionists and their records.  Sort of like a "Rate My Professor" feature at many universities and colleges.  I can see some advantages and disadvantages (the Coathanger crew will post "I heart my abortionist" or "My abortion was the bestest ever!!!").   No doubt it could be abused if it's not handled correctly.   For now, if you want to know about a specific abortionist, check out the above-mentioned websites and the book Lime 5 (which can be purchased at http://www.lifedynamics.org/

It's time to close but I want to end on a bright note.  Operation Rescue has kept records of some very encouraging numbers.  Many abortion facilities are closing.  In 1991, there were 2,200 abortion mills.  As of May 15, 2011 there were 678.   It's no wonder the abortion crowd wants crisis pregnancy centers to be shut down so desperately!  The link at the end of this post is a list of all the abortion facilities in the United States.  The states are listed alphabetically as well as their cities.  You will also see that they often list the abortionists.  Many of the abortionists lead to a link of their past offenses.  The fact that many of  these criminals are still in business reveals volumes about the authorities' lack of concern for women and infants.
ain, the tide is changing.  WHY?  It is because of people like you and I who have realized how damaging and immoral abortion actually is and want to make waves about it.  Waves of prayer, waves of support, waves of time investment, waves of financial support, waves of caring and waves of love for our neighbor.  Time to rock the boat!!!    Check back often for these numbers because they are still going down.  Today, news came to us pro-lifers that an abortion mill was closed down in Pensacola....677 now.   Yet, it could be down to 674 given the AZ ruling.

Come Swing With Me in the Bell Tower.....

"Sanctuary! Sanctuary!"   This familiar quote comes from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".   While I have never actually seen this movie or read the story, it's one of those famous lines many people quote and it refers a person seeking protection or asylum.

Are you needing sanctuary?   Maybe you haven't experienced the onslaught of reactions yet.  You  are new to pro-life and maybe you haven't discussed your beliefs with family, friends and acquaintances.  It's not a subject that comes up and it will be discouraged at all costs by those on the pro-abortion side.   Maybe you haven't faced this at all---fearful of the results of such a discussion.  Fear not!

There's a quote by Father Frank Pavone that pretty much sums up the discussion of abortion.  “We are always told of reasons why we can’t speak up against abortion. If we speak in Church, we’re told it’s too political; if we speak in the political arena, we’re told it’s too religious.  If we speak in the media we’re told  it’s too disturbing; in the educational realm, it’s too disruptive. On the public streets, it’s too distressing for children; in the business world it’s too controversial, in the family it’s too divisive, and in social settings it’s just impolite.  So if abortion is wrong, where do we go to say so?”

Much of the reactions range from disgust, ridicule, personal attacks on your own character, or when logic is used, overreaction and/or disengaging from the conversation.  Much of the time you may ignored....(a popular thing that family usually uses) kind of like Aunt Hattie with the plaid pantsuit decorated with doilies who also sports a tricorn hat....yeah, we don't talk about HER.  Ahem.  Yeah, I am the crazy aunt they would rather hide in the closet. Pretty used to that now.  :)

I remember when I first got into the ministry of pro-life laycounseling.  While initially there was nervousness in what I would face with the clients, the real persecution took place in a religious establishment.  It really had not occurred to me just how guarded I had been until I got to the crisis pregnancy center.  Conversations there at the cpc were so bold!  Yet they weren't really.  I was just used to being silenced so much by pro-abortion surroundings.  I told my husband what a little sanctuary this place was....it was night and day.  The little pro-life sanctuary was protection and rest from the pro-abortion factions.  Fortunately, my husband joined me and found it a wonderful blessing too.   It was great to be with pro-lifers and to be fed by Christians and to be able to spiritually feed others.   There was a time when we had NO church....the cpc became our church....it became our sanctuary.  [Just an aside: Yes, we found a church that didn't view people as property or support pro-abortion groups.  They do exist]

I'll be frank.  I have not been in the pro-life activist world.  Not the real, raw scenes with pro-life warriors praying while people are hitting them, peeing on them, fondling them suggestively, brandishing weapons at them, facing the threat of being sprayed with sewage, or getting run over by vehicles.  I have not had people spitting on me and cussing in my face with sheer rage and anger.   My life has not been threatened and I have not ever dealt with the police.   The pro-life pioneers who have been there from the beginning have seen it all and I admire them for the way they persevere.   My experiences at abortion mills have been very quiet and sad times.

Those attacks you can see coming though.  It's very blatant and when this kind of enemy attacks, you can at least brace yourself to a point to know that this kind of arena is replete with foul clashes. The people who participate in these places know the power of prayer in preparation and in the endurance of the time spent there.  It is also important to pray after for the jarring moments that just took place.  Sometimes there are just episodes that shock the sensibilities.

Most of the attacks I have faced have been the mild disgust, the occasional conniption and dripping condescension....you can see it coming and you just love on them, plant seeds and move onward.

There's also the attack of the chameleons.   You'll see this when you get active in something like sidewalk counseling, volunteering at a cpc or other pro-life events.   Some will be happy for you initially but deep down they aren't pro-life.   They claim to be pro-life in your presence but they distrust all information and get hostile when you share anything newsworthy.  They aren't very firm or into sound science or doctrine.  They get upset by simple questions and are easily swayed.  They are of a different mindset in other groups.  There will always be two-faced people.   They aren't intellectually honest, they play little mindgames and have snit fits.  They tell you they are pro-life but the reality is they are pro-abortion with a few exceptions.   Once you recognize the chameleons you can move on there too.

If you have taken any time to visit the websites below, you'll notice much of this information has never made it to the mainstream news.   While it seems the public is now better at getting their information from places other than the pro-abortion monopoly called the nightly news.....there's still an amazing amount of people who are shocked that these things are taking place at all.

It wasn't very long ago that my daughter found out for the first time that abortion facilities are by-and-large not regulated at all.   I still run into a great many individuals who never knew that Planned Parenthood is the number 1 provider of abortions.   Total shock and of course, many are not very well-informed of what an abortion actually does to a baby.  So it's hard when this news is something you want to let others know, yet, no surprise.....people do not want to be educated.  Maybe you are now realizing there is a rather large group of residents of Farmville, Oprahville, Jersey Girlsville and Epicureanville.   They want their fun, their isolationist bubbles and you are not to upset their psyches.  How dare you?

It's not to say that you don't try.  With some people, they really do have questions and are sincere in learning.  Sometimes there are just wonderful moments where there's no drama, no overreaction and there's real discussion.  Honestly, people just haven't throught this through.   They just are uninformed and they are completely unaware of the big world of abortionists and their dirty practices.   They genuinely have never given one thought to the abortion procedure and to prenatal development.  Some are honest and they really care.   I love the people who are straightforward when I have asked them "What is your opinion about abortion" and their answer is "I don't know".  That's honest and if they are intellectually honest, a great amount of progress can be made.

To sum up....you will be attacked for your pro-life views....just like many Christians are attacked for their beliefs.  As I was reminded by a some very lovely pro-lifers recently.....Jesus was killed for His truthtelling.   You will be accused of advancing an agenda and yes, you are.  It's a truth agenda.  It's an agenda of protecting ALL life.   It's the same agenda that told the truth that people are not property to be used, abused and destroyed.  It's the truth agenda that says each and every individual is unique and made in His image.  This will upset many people just like it did back when the Dred Scott was labeled "property".   It will upset many people just like it did when Jews were labeled "useless eaters" by the eugenicists.

1) Recognize that when you start to speak your mind, you will be facing attack and will need a sanctuary.
2) Find your daily/weekly sanctuary.  Maybe that will be at a crisis pregnancy center or start a pro-life group of your own...like-minded souls to pray for those spiritual attacks (but don't hide out there and isolate yourself).
3) Identify your potential attacks.  Will they be blatant?  Chameleons?
4) Stay grounded in prayer and the Word always.

Pray!  Do you need sanctuary?   There's always sanctuary available.  Here and now in your Loving Father's arms.  He is always faithful, wise and understanding of what you are facing.  Pray for those people who attack you no matter what the issue is.  Pray for the foul ones, the nasty ones, the sneaky ones, the betraying ones.  Don't walk on eggshells...don't let Satan get the victory by staying silent.  When people try to silence you, diminish you, ridicule you and discourage you....lean on Him and stay in His perfect and infallible Word  (God Himself says it's perfect and incorruptible).  Rest in the knowledge that His truth is on your side.

There are babies who have no way to fight back, escape or scream out.  Do it for them...pick up your shield, your sword....your words may save a life, physically and spiritually.

That "Ah Ha" Moment....

What was it that woke you up to this issue?  At some point, there is one of those "Ah ha moments"....or maybe a small series of them.  For some, it's when they actually hear the word abortion for the first time.  For others, it's an actual description of the abortion procedures.   For many, it's when they saw that first picture of an aborted baby.  Sadly, with some people, it's the abortion experience itself or experiencing a family member's suffering due to abortion.

For me, I can't exactly remember the day or the actual "Ah-ha" moment.  Yet, other moments are etched permanently in my memory.   There is one article by David Kupelian called "Ending the 30 Year War".   I'll link to it at the end of this.  The article shared an account about some pro-lifers who were outside of an abortion facility.  They walked into it and found it empty.  They found some containers in the hallway.  In the containers were, as you can surmise, aborted babies of different gestations.  I'll not go into the rest of the article but it is something I highly recommend reading.   Here's the warning.  At the end of the article, there is a link to click on to see the baby boy they named David.  The baby is extremely developed.

I read the article and I clicked on the link, bracing myself for the worst.  That moment might as well have been my first real moment to become pro-life.  Whatever I thought about abortion (which I was already against), became a call to action to battle and God was going to have to tell me how, where and when.  I wanted to show this photo to everyone.

Father Frank Pavone  (from Priests for Life), has wisely said, "A nation won't reject abortion until it sees abortion."   I agree wholeheartedly.  However, because of the great many individuals who have experienced abortion, I am cautious in showing images.  That is, I will but with a warning first.  There are people who are post-abortive on both sides of this issue....those who can view the images and those who can't.   I respect both sides but on this blog, I will ALWAYS give a warning.  Even those who admit they can't view them agree there is a time and place for these images but they truly want to be forewarned.  They already know what abortion does.  For some, it's salt on an open wound.  It doesn't take away from their passion to fight for the unborn to choose not to view.  Some of my most impassioned pro-life warrior friends who fight with every fiber of their being cannot see those images.

There was another moment very indelibly marked in my life.   When I started reading everything in sight about the abortion issue, there were several articles that just shook me to the core.  For the new pro-lifer who may not know, abortion isn't just one method.  There are many different ways a baby is aborted.

The shocking fact I read was that some babies actually LIVED through an abortion procedure.  Some babies lived after many kinds of abortion procedures.  To me, that was just a whole new level of comprehension.  I wanted to know more.  How was that possible?  Then what happens?  There's a definite horror factor that just breaks the heart and reels the mind.

One article went into detail about the different babies who survived.  Gianna Jessen and Melissa Ohden both survived saline solutions.  Gianna was 7 1/2 months gestation and Melissa was at 5 months.  Gianna was born with cerebral palsy (she calls it the "gift of cerebral palsy) and Melissa, miraculously showed no aftereffects of the saline (which is of a high level to burn).   Ximena Roberts was born blind due to the injection given to her in the womb.   She was also deprived of oxygen after she emerged causing mental challenges.

One baby, Ana Rosa Rodriguez, was born with no arm.  The abortionist started the abortion but then demanded more money after realizing Ana Rosa was more advanced in development.   Bigger baby, more money is the rule in the abortion industry.  Ana Rosa's mother left the abortionist and went to a hospital where Ana Rosa was then delivered.

Jill Stanek and Alison Baker were both nurses who gave testimony to the Congress about their experiences at Christ Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  Both discovered that babies were being induced early and then put aside in soiled utility closets.  After this horrific discovery, they determined to hold the babies until they died, in an attempt to give comfort and dignity to the babies.  They were not allowed to give any lifesaving measures to these babies.  So, these babies, many in the 23 week and beyond stage, would die of suffocation.

Baby Shanice died a few years ago.  Her mother sought an abortion at the 23  week gestation.  The abortionist wasn't present but the baby didn't wait.  She emerged and was on the chair.  A worker took the baby and dumped her in a biohazard bag.   She was alive and yet, treated like garbage.  Someone at the facility called the police and tipped them off.  When the police showed up, no evidence remained so they left.  The biohazard bag had been placed up on the roof in the hot, Florida sun.  This is the way the abortion crowd treats babies.

While there were charges initially, none were followed through and everything was basically dropped.  The abortionist did lose his license (but as you will soon find out means nothing or very little), where he promptly moved back to New York (where he was already in trouble).  There's usually no legal repercussion for abortionists.  There are exceptions and I pray we see a turning of the tide in that department.   I didn't even mention abortionists Kermit Gosnell or James Pendergraft whose treatment of surviving babies after the abortions leaves me grasping for the suitable words.  All I can think of is inhuman.  That does not touch the magnitude of horrific actions.

I realize that many of these descriptions can be just as disturbing as seeing a photo of an aborted baby......and I avoided many, many details that would have made it far more grisly.  This is happening to real people.....we look at the photographs from the concentration camps and know that these people suffered horribly.  Gianna Jessen and Melissa Ohden are adults now.....they want people to know these heinous methods are real and they are aware uncomfortable to view or read.  Yet, we need to know because it not only affected them, it affects everyone.

Maybe you are at the point now where I was about 10-11 years ago.  Maybe this is the pivotal moment for many of you to say "I need to do more to fight against this heinous practice of child sacrifice".

Here is the article I mentioned in the beginning.  The article is powerful enough to affect the people who are loving souls.  The photo of Baby David is included by a link.  In reading the article, you will not see the photo of him unless you click on the link itself.  Please read the article though because this very act is happening every day in our land in our neighborhoods.  Our littlest neighbors (up to 4,000 daily) are being killed in our very own cities.  We aren't even considering the ones globally in places where abortions outnumber the live births!

The Good Samaritan

Two years ago, John Ensor from Heartbeat International came to speak for a pro-life fundraiser.  He reminded us of the story of the Good Samaritan as our example for taking care of our neighbors.

Luke 10:27-37--So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’
And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”  But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”  Then Jesus answered and said:

“A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.  Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.  Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.  So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
On the next day, when he  departed,] he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’

So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”  And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

What a great example we have from His Holy and perfect Word!  It's also a great example for bringing home the point of not ignoring the unborn!  Who are our neighbors?   Only the ones we SEE with our eyes every day?  Who is our neighbor?  Why should we care?  Jesus says so.  In the eyes of Jesus, our neighbor has value and we have value.  We are to see the value in them and love them in the way we love/value ourselves.

In the series of Making Abortion Unthinkable by Scott Klusendorf and Greg Koukl, they make the case for seeing the unborn baby as a human.  First they ask, "What is the unborn?"  If the unborn are not human, then no justification for abortion is necessary. If the unborn are human, then no justification for abortion is adequate.

I am not very tall.  There are basketball players, football players and there are people who have won records for being the tallest reported in Guiness Book of Records.  Are all these people who are taller and who may weigh more than I do more valuable?   My neighbor down the street has 3 little girls.   Am I more valuable than they are?   Is size a good reason to kill another person?

As I shared before, I have a thyroid condition which causes me to take medication daily.  If I were to stop, serious complications could ensue and cause distress for not only my well-being but would also upset my family.  I had an great-uncle who had a pacemaker and I have friends who are dependent on canes, oxygen tanks, heart medication and dialysis.  Am I of more value (even on medication) than the friend on dialysis?  Is the man who isn't dependent on a pacemaker more valuable than the person who is?  What about the people who were in iron lungs because of polio?  Should we kill a person based on the fact that they need to be dependent on something or someone for their daily survival?

I am an adult and my parents are now in their 70's.  Are they more valuable than I am because they are older than I am?  What about the toddlers in my church nursery?  Are they less valuable because they are just learning to walk and talk?  Is the elementary student less valuable than a teenager?  These are all stages of life.  Right now I am an adult but at one time I was an embryo, a fetus (Latin for "young one"), a newborn, a toddler, a child, a teenager and someday, if the Lord allows it, I'll be a senior citizen too.  My humanity never changed....I just had different stages of the same life.  Do we kill someone based on the fact that they are at a specific stage of life?

Right now I am at my computer.  I am Shiphrah at my computer, typing happily away. :)  If I were to get up right now and go to the kitchen, would I stop being Shiphrah?   Would I become more valuable because I am no longer at my computer?   Did you become LESS valuable because you went out to your yard?   Are you still of value just because you go from one location to the next?   So were you less valuable before taking the momentous 6-7 inch trip down the birth canal out to join the rest of us?  Yet, all of a sudden the worth of the unborn baby is of zero value in the eyes of some people  (a priest and a Levite in this case) who are apparently anointed to decide everyone else's worth.

The Samaritan loves his neighbor.  He stops to take time to care for him (or her) because he sees the worth of that person who was created in God's own image.  The individual who sees the humanity in crisis and walks right by can't be bothered.  Based on the case made above....size, development, environment and dependency, it makes me wonder if the priest and the Levite justified leaving the man left for dead because he was shorter, younger, dependent on medical care or somehow his location wasn't optimum.  The value of the man left for dead was not worthy.

We don't know what the priest and Levite were thinking of course but their refusal to take action reveals their lack of love for their neighbor.  They saw him and passed by on the other side.  The Samaritan had compassion.

Pastor John Ensor told us, "But God calls us to rescue, so that’s what we do. It’s nothing more than the parable of the good Samaritan. There was a man who was about to die. What does love do? Love doesn’t say, I don’t know, I didn’t do it, I don’t’ believe in that. You see, well I’m not pro choice, that’s not good enough.

Love requires that you rescue the weak and the innocent. You pick the man up, you put him on your donkey and you take him in, pay for the care. You don’t have to go to school for this. You just have to love your neighbor and you’ll figure it out as you go. Is it easy? No. it costs you a lot. We call it, cross-bearing for the child bearing."

Pastor Ensor shares with many pro-life groups all around the world.  He encourages the congregations to be the Samaritans...
"If someone was about to jump off a bridge, would you say, I just want you to know I support your decision whatever it is? No. you would say, come with me, whatever it is that drove you to this point where you will jump, there’s another solution. And I will help you find it. You say, well, I need money. I don’t have a lot of money. You don’t have a lot of money, but God has plenty and there’s always room in this world for your child, or your friend’s child, or your daughter’s child, or your grandchild."

"Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." -Elie Wiesel

Will you be a cross-bearer for a child bearer?  Yes?  Then let's go get our bandages!
